Citadel will have a 30-year old player this season
Summary
NCAA likely exempting pregnancy, religious mission, military service from new eligibility rules; injury/illness exceptions expected legal battleground.
Crimson_Ghost said... (original post) it should be a hard (cut & dry) 5 to play 5. and should begin the day a student enrolls into any level of education beyond HS.the only except... show more Not allowing exceptions for pregnancy would be a violation of Title IX. I'm sure a lawyer could craft an argument that not allowing exceptions for religious missions is a form of religious discrimination. I think not allowing exceptions for military would be bad PR. The NCAA has already said those three things are likely to be excepted under the new rule. (https://www.ncaa.org/news/2026/4/15/media-center-di-cabinet-adopts-changes-to-eligibility-rules-for-prospects.aspx) It's the injury/illness part where the new rules truly diverge from the old rules, and that's going to be a battleground for lawyers before long. Those tear-jerker College Gameday features about players having cancer -- like LSU's Greg Brooks -- hit differently when the ending is, "the NCAA ruled they could no longer play college football."
