I'm not loving this part of Ty to the Rams
Summary
Rams drafting Ty at 13 suggests: (1) Stafford's last year, (2) huge QB dropoff if they trade down, or (3) strong belief in Ty's potential. RWS makes early QB deployment more likely.

I doubt they want to have to go with Stetson Bennett if that happens. The fact that they took Ty at 13 instead of trading down, IMO, means one or all of 3 things: (1) they believe this is Stafford's last season, (2) they believed another team would take Ty in the teens if they traded down and that there was a huge dropoff in QB quality after that, and/or (3) they really like Ty's potential a lot. It's true that it is less common than it used to be for QBs to sit and wait a year. But IMO that's more about teams' choices than anything else. Also, with the rookie wage scale, IMO it's actually more likely for a team to play a QB early, because if you can't play, they can get rid of you quickly and draft another one. Back before the RWS, you were in salary cap hell if your first round QB didn't pan out, so teams were more careful about it.
