Did some quick research on YouTube to find what the tendency has been. Last year vs Syracuse Joey hit Mike Matthews on a quick slant off play action for a first down. Nico’s first play in his first start in the bowl game was a play action dump off 1 yard pass to Warren that turned into a 9 yard game. In Nico’s first play of the 24 season vs Chatt it was a quick drop back pass to the sideline on a comeback route for a first down. In 2023 vs Virginia Joe Milton handed off to Wright on the first play followed by a quick screen to the right for a first down. In 2022 vs ball state they gave us a short field after turning the ball over on the first play of the game. Our first play on offense was a play action pass to Hyatt on a hitch route that he turned into a TD. In 2021 Joe Milton handed off to Smalls on the first offensive play. So by deduction unless Joe Milton starts for us tomorrow it will be a pass and most likely a play action pass that’s short to intermediate to get some rhythm and probably use some tempo.
