Georgia Tech quarterback Alberto Mendoza completed 17 of 23 passes for 237 yards in his first start after transferring from Indiana and finished with the team's highest PFF grade at 85.5.

Mendoza's passing performance gave Georgia Tech a glimpse of a stronger passing game inside an offense that had been expected to be run-dominant.

Mendoza said penalties, missed blocks, a new team, transfers, and communication issues hurt Georgia Tech's ability to sustain drives in the 14-13 loss.

Mendoza said he fully trusted George Godsey and Brent Key on the late-game run calls after Georgia Tech reached deep Colorado territory on the final drive.
