2026 Spring Camp
Summary
First spring practice observation: 60 new players, limited visibility on roster. Kanye Roberts in full gear, rehabbing with S&C post-injury. Trent Ramsey practiced normally, likely minor leg strain, 6-8 week recovery.
So, went to practice yesterday, it was the typical first-day in that things had to be learned and relearned, it was atypical in that there are 60 new players. I can idenify about a dozen or so guys by sight, otherwise, I have no idea who's where. Obviously, there's no numbered roster online and the communications team doesn't have that information either. On one hand, a pain, on the other hand, it makes me stop watching for individuals and start watching for scheme.
I don't take too much away from what I saw, given that I missed the middle of the session as well, but regardless I never make a judgement off of a first-day practice. The one group that easier to identify is QBs. so I got a first look at everyone there (Noah Gillon being the exception). Some of the returning names people will ask about...
- Kanye Roberts: Was in full gear, warmed up normally, but is still working with S&C in a rehab mode on the side. Looked fine, in good shape, but it takes the time it takes.
- Trent Ramsey: Must not have done tremendous damage to the leg, because he was out there and looked normal. May have just been a sprins, which would still be a 6-8 week recovery, but nothing long term there.
- Cayden Sweatt: Moved in to center, which makes some sense. If someone esle proves themseleves there, he can obviously pop back out to guard, but he knows the reads/calls, so logcal to start him there.
- Tyriq Poindexter: Was with the "first team" OL at RT, but grains of salt to who lines up with whcih unit.
I did see some group work that will show me some things after I get a better volume look at it. Post-practice interview with Loggains coming up.
