Redshirt freshman running back Taevion Swint got his first collegiate game action, and he made the most of his opportunities, leading the Knights in all-purpose yards with 48 rushing yards, 16 receiving yards and 57 kick return yards, along with a touchdown. It could've been two, but his second touchdown was taken away because of an illegal man downfield penalty. Where Swint really put the nation on notice in the 73-6 victory over Bethune-Cookman was with his speed and ability to turn an average play into a big play. He had plenty of those opportunities, and now he's looking to carry that over onto the road against Pitt. Here's everything Swint (Chick) had to say in his energetic postgame press conference: (Photo: Nate Hill/Staff , 247Sports)   On scoring his first college touchdown after missing last season: I say, man, it feels great. Happy to be back out. It's been a long year since I touched the field, but it ain't nothing like just doing it with your brothers, just doing it with the guys and having fun. It felt great. If it wasn't for the guys, my tackle making that block, getting up through there, squeezing through the defender—it feels great. I don't even got no words for real. On the offensive line's blocking on his big plays: I'll say I can't do it without the guys. If them guys ain't make that block for me, I'll still be at the one-yard line on our side of the half. So I just say, with them guys making that block and getting me past the 50, I really do appreciate them boys for that. On the depth and talent in the UCF running back room: For the people that's watching, they got something coming for sure. Everybody in the running back room could roll. Like how Coach Kamryn Williams keeps telling us: we're the Juice Squad, we got the ball, and the ball is the program. So just with us in the backfield, we're going to do our thing. On watching Duke Watson score on his first touch: I was just talking about that back in the back with Duke. Me and Duke, ever since he got here, we just have our talks with the other running backs too, like with Landen Chambers and AG. We talked about this and manifested this stuff. I said, "Man, Duke, on your first run, you've got to take it to the Baja." To the Baja means touchdown. So he got it—I think it was 54 yards—and took it for a touchdown! I was super hyped for him and happy. AG had himself a long touchdown run, too. That was the most exciting run, too, because AG has been here and played last year as a young guy, so I knew he was going to do it for us for sure. On the meaning of the term "The Baja": The Baja is something running from our city—something that we say like "the house." So I just ran with it. On internal room competition and "sparking the band": We don't got a competition; we never even put it as a competition. It's like when one of us gets out there, we've got to do our thing. We're just going to follow up behind each other. Somebody's got to "spark the band," like my boy Duke says. Whoever gets out there, once we spark the band, somebody else is going to come back in and spark it. So we're going to keep the band sparking all year. On executing the touchdown run from film study: When I ran the play that I scored on, I already manifested it. Once that linebacker shoots that way, I already know I'm coming off the back of him. You've got to watch that film and read your opponent. Other than that, I knew what was coming up. On managing internal pressure and relying on faith: No, I didn't feel no pressure. I walk with faith. So going out having faith, you wouldn't have no pressure. Be calm. Like Coach Kamryn Williams tells us, just breathe. Once you breathe, let it out, hold it in for three seconds—whatever you've got to do to get your mind right to make that play. It's no pressure. On team chemistry and locker room culture: I wouldn't say it changed a lot, because last year we had brotherhood, too. Every team that I've been on has always been a brotherhood. Once we all lock in, we're all on one mission, and that's a Big 12 championship. We're going to be good. On preparing for the upcoming road test against Pittsburgh: Like Coach Frost said, this is something that we were supposed to do. Now our real test comes next week at Pitt. We're going to be on the road in a different environment with the stadium posted on a thousand. For me, we've just got to keep our head down, go back to work the next day, and handle business. On his 50-yard kickoff return: I'm looking at it right now as I'm speaking to you guys. Man, I had it! I tried to split the defender, the kicker, and the edge guy. But I didn't high-step on him—that's all I missed. Everybody keeps saying, "You've got to high-step! You've got to high-step!" I was like, "Man, I'm just trying to get to the ball." If I cut it out, I definitely would have had a better chance. When I leave here, I'm about to go on film and watch that play. On scoring in front of his family as a local product: I just had a talk with the guys and said, "Man, this is my first game back. I just want to put on for you guys." And that's what they did. Everybody did their assignment, I did my assignment, and my family was out here. I can't let them down, so we just handled business tonight.
