Peegs' Take: Breaking down No. 6 Indiana's win over North Texas
Summary
Pick/market: BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The reigning national champions opened the 2026 season with a 52-16 win over North Texas. Peegs.com's Jared Kelly, Jeff Rabjohns and Trevor Andershock go in-depth on the Hoosiers' win over the Mean Green. The full video can be viewed below. Fox's Big Noon Kickoff was in Bloomington throughout the week. Barstool joined them for the pregame show, adding to the atmosphere on a beautiful early September day. Although it was not as smooth as Curt Cignetti and the IU fans wanted, the Hoosiers rolled to a convincing victory to open the season. Indiana's offense exploded for seven touchdowns and totaled 365 yards while averaging 7.9 yards per play. Defensively, IU allowed 367 yards including 215 passing yards and 152 rushing yards, but the Hoosiers bowed up in the red zone and gave up just one touchdown. Quarterback Josh Hoover turned in a strong IU debut, completing 13-of-16 passes for 231 yards, four touchdowns and zero turnovers. Charlie Becker was on the receiving end of two touchdown grabs, and Nick Marsh and Davion Chandler each hauled in one score. Running back Turbo Richard also ran for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Below are Peegs.com's complete initial thoughts from Indiana's win.
