Summary
Pick/market: I was more nervous about this game than many.
I was more nervous about this game than many. It's Boise State--house of horrors for us over the years. They have an experience quarterback. And that kid from Baker City will be playing on Sundays. But we got the win, came away relatively healthy, and have a couple of games to get things in order.
I'm also OK, because Boise State will likely be a playoff team. I'd put it about 50%. They have to beat Memphis and then run the table. But a close lost to us will boost their resume. And with that said, we really dominated them. They couldn't run on us. Their best rusher averaged 2.9 yards per carry. They couldn't throw very well--only two receivers caught more than two passes.
They scored on us, because of turnovers on downs and bad penalties on our part. Those can be fixed. This is one of the games that would be challenging that we needed to win. You can get into the playoffs with one loss and probably two losses. Losing to Boise State would have dropped our chances of getting into the playoffs at somewhere under 30%. I think we're probably in the 50-60% ranger of getting into the playoffs, but that's only because no game is a gimme.
