Too soon to hit the Panic Button
Summary
Injury: Well Sexton and the oline were playing somewhat well that first drive, as when he went down he was run blocking down the field with the RB just passing him if I remember right.
Well Sexton and the oline were playing somewhat well that first drive, as when he went down he was run blocking down the field with the RB just passing him if I remember right. Going for it the end of that drive left us with no points, and it was mostly downhill from there.
Mest seemed off and held on to ball too long at times. And the playcalling seemed predictable with too few options, and then our guys looked out of it. Defense did decent, especially against the run early, but were forced onto field for long time as game went on.
Not sure that our conditioning was great, and maybe Sextons injury did set the guys back and start it rolling downhil, but truth is there looked to be too much wrong to pinpoint one thing. Some is correctable, but all this talk about Morris spending so so much time watching film and taking notes, if true, after seeing the first game I say work smarter not harder.
That all said, I give Tulsa credit. They played well, were well coached, and simply appeared they wanted it more as game went on.
