I was happy to see a competitive game against such a stacked and talented squad. I was expecting a much more lop-sided loss, and a quick browse of the scoreboard showed that most of the top 10 teams beat their first week opponents by an average of at least 5 touchdowns. Still, in a close game like this, there is a lot of "What if,s" and "Might have beens" that make it extra dissappointing, and easy to criticize the one or two small failures that would have swung the game in BSU's favor. But taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, I can't help but be proud of what took place yesterday. BSU played a competitive game against a team that might well have competed favorably against average NFL teams. Something to be said for that.
