Name a former Duke athlete you hate more than Mensah

This is a sports board, where opinion, perspective, rumor, generally sports related statistics, and occasional citations meet. Don't expect a burden of proof higher than an OG phone book. Any case against Miami would have been very difficult and circumstantial with the challenge of substantiating rumors. But there wwas clearly a pattern that suggested interference. FWIW, here are some items of note: 1. Mensah was aware of Miami’s interest before he entered the portal. The Miami Herald reported, citing a source, that Mensah knew UM was interested before he told Duke on January 16, 2026 that he wanted to enter the portal. The paper reported that Miami could communicate that interest through third-party NIL entities, rather than coaches directly, exploiting what it characterized as a loophole in the rules. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article314375438.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com 2. Duke's own lawsuit documents show that details of an alleged Miami package were circulating before Mensah told Duke he was leaving. Duke's complaint says that at 2:07 p.m. on January 16, reports were already circulating about a Miami-related package potentially totaling around $10 million, housing, an Adidas arrangement and benefits for Mensah's sister. Mensah did not inform Manny Diaz that he intended to transfer until 3:56 p.m. that afternoon. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://s3.amazonaws.com/snwceomedia/dtc/45ae1906-2c97-4749-b2c3-7b518f9d851c.original.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com 3. CBS later reported that “behind the scenes, the Hurricanes went all in on Duke quarterback Darian Mensah” after Miami had missed on other quarterback targets. CBS reported that Duke learned Mensah was seriously considering the portal and tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to stay. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/miami-darian-mensah-transfer-portal-saga-duke/?utm_source=chatgpt.com 4. Within hours of Mensah entering the portal, the Miami Herald was already reporting that he was expected to transfer to Miami. That speed strongly suggests the basic parameters of the move were known beforehand rather than Miami beginning from scratch after his portal entry. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article314349540.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com 5. Narduzzi called Diaz to warn that Miami was after Mensah and had been tampering re: Heintschel. https://www.on3.com/news/pat-narduzzi-accuses-miami-of-tampering-with-pitt-qb-mason-heintschel-before-going-after-darian-mensah/?utm_source=chatgpt.com 6. Joe Klatt of Fox accused Miami of tampering https://www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/news/college-football-powerhouse-accused-of-tampering-after-10-million-qb-transfer?utm_source=chatgpt.com We may never know if there was evidence of reaching a legal threshold. DukeKeh's scenario is reasonable, but I suspect a long period of working the Mensah team. As Manny said "You can only say (officially) what you can prove." He's been there (Miami) - he knows. Duke's Athletic team did their best on Jan. 16 to keep Mensah at his written and spoken word.
