What Saturday’s snap counts and PFF grades tell us about each Oregon position group
Summary
Pick/market: I assume they take into account situational things like dumping it off short for a 1 yard gain when someone else is open downfield as a negative, especially on 3rd or 4th down.
KabuMan said... (original post) Thanks for sharing the PFF stats. That 65.4 grade is strange given that Moore had a career-high performance in passing yards. Especially as your art... show more I assume they take into account situational things like dumping it off short for a 1 yard gain when someone else is open downfield as a negative, especially on 3rd or 4th down. But statistically, that looks like a "good play" because it helps that completion percentage. I also remember a couple times, especially early, where it felt like he got happy feet a bit and scrambled when he could have stayed in the pocket and made a throw. Stop you could end up with, as an example, 3 drop backs that result in: - scrambled for 6 yards at the first sign of pressure, but missed an open receiver (rated as a slight negative) - complete pass for 2 yards on 3 and 3, but missed an open guy past the sticks (slight negative) - complete screen pass to open WR that the WR breaks a tackle and takes 40 yards to the house (scored neutral or slight positive, because it was an easy throw and the WR created the yards and TD). PFF likely grades that series of plays as slightly negative to neutral, despite the stats showing: 2-2 42 yds, TD, 21 yd/comp, 21 yd/att, 1 rush, 6yds, 6.0 ypc All that to say, while the stats looked great, and Dante certainly didn't play *bad*, I'd agree that it wasn't one of his better games and was probably sub-par based on his own extremely high standards.
