Louisiana confirmed two season-ending injuries from Lamar; the transcript identifies the walk-ons as Hayden Dorbone and Jeremiah Holtz, with Hayden filling a substantial special-teams role. Desormeaux described the other injuries as day-to-day or week-to-week and deferred updates until Wednesday. He did not confirm Caden or Shelton's availability for USC.

Louisiana's starting quarterback exceeded the staff's 70% completion target against Lamar. Desormeaux attributed one interception to a young receiver stopping his route and another to a fourth-down chance, rather than broadly poor decisions. He praised pocket exits and run-read decisions but identified two drifting sideline throws for correction; that context matters more than the interception count alone.

Desormeaux says Louisiana's line faces a different problem at Southern California (USC): Lamar moved and pressured its front, while Gary Patterson's defense is more predictable in alignment but seeks to win with execution and physicality. He rates USC's defensive line among the best Louisiana has faced in his 11 years. This is the opposing coach's assessment, not independent proof of a matchup edge.

Louisiana wants tighter coverage spacing after Lamar found soft spots and out routes; Desormeaux says these were alignment/detail issues rather than busted assignments. He expects an explosive Southern California (USC) passing attack under Lincoln Riley and emphasizes making throws contested. The coach's USC assessment heightens the importance of those coverage corrections but is not a scoring projection.

Louisiana wants a reliable four- or five-player linebacker rotation. Desormeaux praised the group's speed and physicality against Lamar but says Connor must avoid overrunning plays and finish wrap-up tackles, while Ethan needs more assignment control. Harrison Kade's special-teams work could lead to defensive opportunities; no new starter or fixed snap split was announced.
