Gotta avoid third-and-long by running it and/or run-replacing decently well in the quick game and also gotta be willing to take shots on non-conventional downs early and actually hit 1 or 2 to make them hang a second safety back a bit. They are an aggressive man defense that will bring a safety down close and play single-high and squeeze everything like a vice unless you can force them to change it with some verticality. What will be open if ASU has enough time are the intermediate crossers/sails if there is enough time for Boley on routes that also include blowing the doors off the top of coverage.
Defensively, ASU has to make Reed unhappy with his first read. He's accurate and athletic, but he's a pre-snap determiner in the passing game who doesn't go through full progression reads and will force the ball to spots he wants to go. He's 1-2-bolt. ASU will either play a lot of Cover 3 and try to force him to complete a bunch of throws underneath coverage, with some potentially risky throws, or it'll play more risk-tolerant man coverage and bring more pressure than Ward typically would. Reed's mobility adds to the scare factor if it's the latter, but it'll depend on how the game flows. Probably start with more Cover 3 and see how it goes.
