So this gets to the fight for the soul of college sports. Had a larger post drafted but couldn’t get all my thoughts together. In short years dabo said if CFB started becoming pro sports he was done. A lot of people misinterpreted that as Dabo saying if players got paid he was done. Dabo in his heart believes that CFB is a vehicle to improved men’s lives through eduction and opportunities on and off the field. Similar to what football allowed him to do in his own life. It’s something I personally agree with and admire dabo for. When I look at what say Clemson does on and off the field and what say Georgia does on and off the field we might win less games but as an alumni of this university I’m proud of the young men who come out of our program. Not to say everyone’s perfect, but even coaches like Venables talk about how he left Clemson a better man than he came here as. Unfortunately for Dabo, his job is to win games. CFB has been pro sports for a while and the NCAA/ universities in their greed let it go to ***** rather than give the players money. It’s no longer possible for a school to win at the highest level and run a program the way Dabo wants to. I agree with Dabo that it should be “till graduation do we part”. If coaches making millions doesn’t do their job correctly and misevaluates a kid They should have to honor that scholarship. But the transfer portal with no penalty killed that. You can’t carry as many players as Clemson does that aren’t good and complete. So the options are, dabo gets fired or quits, dabo changes his ways or Dabo holds on hoping NCAA rules change again to his favor.
