JaMarcus Shephard said Oregon State's Carter Guillame and Harlem Howard remained day-to-day for Texas Tech, with Saturday availability undecided and their issues potentially lingering during the season.

Shephard confirmed Jeremiah Ioane will not be available for Oregon State this season because of a season-ending injury.

Shephard said T'Andre Waverly's injury should also be season-ending and Oregon State does not expect him to be available.

Shephard blamed Oregon State's explosive runs allowed partly on missed tackles and defenders stopping their feet at contact, making finishing tackles before short gains become five- or six-yard runs a practice emphasis for Texas Tech week.

Shephard described Texas Tech box defenders Ansel Nedore and Ben Roberts as violent, assignment-sound players and said Oregon State intends to challenge their recognition with different looks and a new offensive play package rather than repeat the opener's calls.
