Not much can be taken away from a game against Morgan State, but here's what I learned...
Good:
- Our WRs and RBs are much more physical and willing to block this season. Will be huge for the screen game.
- Speaking of that, Boley is very quick and accurate on screens. Much better than Leavitt in the screen game / quick game.
- Albert Smith is explosive and ready to play a lot more.
- James Giggey looks like he can step into the Harpole role and be a solid in-line TE.
Bad:
- This defense doesn't look as good as dominant as I hoped. They were fine for the most part, but they only created two negative plays, forced zero turnovers, and gave up a couple explosives to a bad offense. I wanted to see more dominance given the opposition.
- Baklenko is a traffic cone, and it appears we have no better options at LT. Klemm isn't that much better at RT.
- Montana Warren still needs to prove he can be good enough as the starting Nickel. We haven't see it so far in his ASU career, and through one game, we still haven't.
- That fumble wasn't really Boley's fault, but it continues a recurring problem from KY. He needs to hang on to the ball when he gets hit. He's going to get hit a lot this year.
