Ryan Silverfield rips 'absolutely awful' Razorback offense at halftime
Summary
Pick/market: FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ryan Silverfield isn't happy with the way his Arkansas offense has performed through the first two quarters of his tenure. The Razorbacks have just 14 points against North Alabama in the first 30 minutes of the game. KJ Jackson has thrown for 131 yards and two scores, but both touchdowns have been short screen passes. He's completed just 55% of his passes. Jackson has also been responsible for both Arkansas turnovers thus far. He was strip-sacked deep in his own territory in the second quarter, and threw an interception in the end zone when the Hogs had prime position to score before the half. "What an awful, awful first half offensively," Silverfield said at halftime on the SEC Network. "Probably one of the worst I've ever been associated with. Not clean at all, self-inflicted wounds. Absolutely terrible. That's on me, I'll get it fixed." For a coaching staff that has harped about ball security and "controlling the controllables," the Hogs haven't done that. Along with the two turnovers, there have been multiple drops by wide receivers, blown assignments by offensive linemen and penalties. Through the first half, Arkansas has been flagged six times for 55 yards, but there was a seventh penalty -- a hold by left tackle Kavion Broussard -- that was declined to set up third and long. The Razorbacks will go back out on the field to correct those issues soon with a 14-0 lead. North Alabama will have the ball first in the second half. The game is on the SEC Network.
