PFF Grades vs ULM
Summary
Pick/market: That’s the problem though.
That’s the problem though. 4 YPC is good for keeping the offense on schedule, but against SEC teams you’re going to need some explosive runs at some point. Those defenses are too athletic to just sit there and let you consistently grind out 3-4 yards every carry. There are going to be drives where you need Fluff to break one for 15, 20, 30+ yards and completely flip the field. And that’s where I think the concern with Fluff comes in. His physical style is useful, especially when we need a tough 3-4 yards, but if he’s constantly trying to run through everybody instead of having the vision or explosiveness to hit a crease and get into the second level, that can become a problem against the better SEC defenses. You can’t rely on the O-line to create perfect holes every single play either. Sometimes the RB has to create something when the blocking isn’t perfect. I’m not saying Fluff can’t be RB1 or that he can’t be productive. I’m saying we’re going to need more than just predictable 4-yard runs if we want to consistently move the ball against the better teams on our schedule. That’s my point.
