Five biggest lessons from spring camp, No. 3: The passing game still has significant room for improvement
Summary
Boise's 5'8" QB limits offense; stacked boxes/press coverage repeat incoming. Critical 2026 season without AJ; QB/O-line foundational must-haves.
If you see a 5' 8" QB 95% of the time you get 5' 8" QB results. For 2 years those hoping, wishing or praying for the next level at the position, sorry it is what it is. Boise will face stacked boxes and press coverage again. Wash, rinse and repeat of 2025. MM, don't get me wrong, love the kid, bleeds blue, probably be a GA after this year. All said the most important position is QB period and that has been lacking. After QB the O Line is a foundational must. All other positions are plug and play to varying extents but QB is the must. Look at the top D-1's especially the successful G's as proof. 2026 season will be the most difficult in SD reign. This year is critical for the program moving into the New PAC and the perception on the street for the Bronco's going forward. Are we a G Heavyweight or a has been. Without AJ the Offense has been mediocre. Not getting a bridge/ backup QB last year or this is on SD. What was the real thought process without the coach speak that has the team in such a vulnerable position. I just don't get it.
