Alignment isnt about wins it's about money. Wave 1 was about getting the big money teams into a consolidated set of fewer leagues.. and that's not over.. Florida State, Miami, etc still want into the P2.. so that's one open thread.. do we get a P3 (TT goes to ACC, etc) or more concentrated P2. From there Wave 2 is about trimming the profit margins.. schools with lower TV potential get cut out. ESPN won't pay 80m per school it will either cut the lower schools or move to an allocation spread. And I see it more likely becoming an allocation spread vs literally voting to toss northwestern off the island. You can get to the destination easier that way. And that's the destination, money goes to whose who earn it via reputation.. whomever brings eyeballs to TVs gets paid. We need to build a national brand that makes people want to see us play. That's how you "buy in" to a higher conference. That's my hope.. Shep builds an 11-1 CFP team for the next 3-4 years and we have the money resume to be involved in the next round of distributions. But honestly we'd be new money and a coaching move away from going back so I don't see the invite coming any time soon.
