One time after Harbaugh first arrived when I was on the rail watching practice this middle-aged lady railbird arrived and took her place standing next to me. We started talking while observing... and I thought to myself, Wow, she's very knowledgeable (though I didn't know her from Eve and never had seen her on the rail before). We spent an hour on the rail observing and commenting, in the mix along with some of the other 30 or so railbirds, one of whom had a Golden Retriever that we all took turns petting. Later in the conversation turned out she was Harbaugh's mom... Jim came running up to the rail to say hello to his mom along with the rest of us railbirds during a break in practice. So can definitely see where some of the 'good traits' and graciousness could come from. His dad also a great guy. PS: if I'm not mistaken, believe that Golden Retreiver belonged to the Ostranders who were then often on the rail.
