Raleek Brown is the problem.
Summary
LB: was slanting away from the back alignment to the strength in pistol.
Texas St. was slanting away from the back alignment to the strength in pistol. Making them susceptible to cutback lanes. On the play that Brown scored his second TD on he had that wide open cutback lane 2 times before he saw it The 3rd time and scored untouched. Just looked back again. On the first play of the last drive of the first half Smothers misses a wide open cutback lane. He continued play side for no gain. Would have been a huge play. Later that drive Mosley lets his man slip inside and causes Brown to avoid and the unblocked LB combine on the tackle. The backside of this play was WFO. Just pointing out that many instances were bad vision by the backs and perimeter blocking were the issue. They will get it cleaned up. Smothers is a stud. Brown is too but he is more deadly on the outside. The whole running game is light years ahead of last year. Big play waiting to happen. Hell they ran it fairly well last year vs OSU and they had a much better defense.
