Gig 'Em Mailbag: Texas A&M Football Q&A Ahead of Week 2 vs Arizona State
Summary

COLLEGE STATION — Week 2 is upon us, and this time around, things should be much tougher for Texas A&M football. After the Aggies walloped Missouri State in Week 1, the Maroon and White welcome Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils to Kyle Field. A&M is still expected to be more than a two-touchdown favorite, but this will be the first Power Four foe they face this season, so there are still questions to be answered on both sides. And speaking of questions, I'm here to answer yours. Here is our weekly Gig 'Em mailbag: When Sanford comes back, who is he going to replace? Madden Williams injury, please tell me it's not a knee? - aggiemilkman17 For Sanford, I think it would be Noah Mikhail. That's a good problem to have, though, because it's not an easy call. Both Mikhail and Coney were great in Week 1. But, much like many positions on Elko's defense, the rotation and mixing and matching will be so robust that I bet the snap counts will be pretty similar among all three of them. When Elko announced that Madden Williams was out for the year and undergoing surgery, he did not specify what the injury was and was very particular about doing so. When can we expect Owens to be buried in the RB depth chart? - jordanaggie I'm not sure that's ever going to be the case, much to the dismay of some on the board. That said, even if Owens were to lose his starting job at some point (I'm not sure it will happen), history shows us that A&M loves to roll out three, four, and even five running backs in a game when they have them. Point being, all these guys are going to get touches, and I wouldn't be surprised if, down the line, the thing we see most is them just riding the hot hand, whoever that may be. Who starts on the O-line this week? D-line also? - sa68ag I think the starting five offensive line remains the same, and it's the group I've thought it would be since Day 1 of fall camp: Tyree Adams, Blake Ivy, Mark Nabou, Trovon Baugh and Wilkin Formby. Defensive line, give me TJ Searcy, DJ Hicks, CJ Mims, and Marco Jones. But, like we mentioned a couple of questions ago, they're so deep here that "starters" almost becomes a moot point. It seems like we have more speed than ever. If the whole team could line up in football pads and run 40 yards, who would the first 5 finishers be? What would the last 5 be? If you are into it for a 3rd question, who would win each position group? -analytical I'm just guessing here, but for the whole roster: 1. Julio Humphrey 2. Terry Bussey 3. Ashton Bethel-Roman 4. Kelshaun Johnson 5. Marcel Reed.
