Maybe It’s Just Me….
Summary
Pick/market: I’m not very concerned about too much offensively after game one.
But I’m not very concerned about too much offensively after game one. Or should I say, my concerns are less player/personnel driven and more coaching/identity driven as of right now. The time has come for a decision to be made on QB. Until this gets resolved, you can never go anywhere as an offense. If Blaze is your guy, you’re gonna have to commit to him and turn him loose. Not let him live in fear of looking over his shoulder the whole time that Curtis is ready to come in at a moments notice. While I personally disagree with that decision, this is what has to be done, and nothing that he’s going to do or make happen in the Delaware game is likely going to change that. While I think he limits the ceiling of the team long term, you can’t keep just kicking this can down the road and expect to fix things offensively along the way before it does. 4-0 is within reach, and the lack of commitment and formation of offensive identity is going to cost this team games that it should not. If Clark was going to do the right thing, he would make his call on Blaze or Curtis one way or another tomorrow at his press conference, so this team can start getting ready to play actual football the week after next and have a legitimate tune up this week for the long haul. It won’t happen, but it’s the right thing to do instead of short changing both of them and the offense as a whole. There is no reason that after seeing Blaze for two years and Blaze and Curtis for now a spring, summer, fall, and full game together you don’t have your mind made up no matter how complicated the decision is. Aside from that as a small sidenote, the OL struggled at times for sure, but I think they will get the lineup figured out in due time and it will be serviceable. Beau Johnson may be their best lineman by years end and he played 18 snaps. Just need some time here.
