Is Clemson's quarterback battle in 2026 a decision between floor and ceiling?
Summary
Clemson QB CV needs 2-3 games to prove himself; Tait has ceiling; hope best players take field.
santej29 said... (original post) you def give CV the keys the first 2-3 games of the season. If at the end of week-3 we are all scratching our heads and wonder what's happened-the... show more Agree. IF, and that's a big if, the supporting cast can give him time (I think he will get replaced if he doesn't have that), we could be much improved if he is making good decisions/few mistakes. If the opposition has to respect the run, you won't win a Natty, but you can win a lot of games. Tait, by all acounts, seems to have the skillset to be a good one (so did our last 2 #1 ranked QB's lol, but this feels different), and will likely "beat" him out of his job. He did not play a bad game against SMU, but they sure held him back. He was throwing well and whoever was calling the plays did not let him go downfield to some wide open targets (I might could have hit some of them - well..., maybe). That either speaks to the OC or more likely the general feel that he has limitations, likely the latter. Hope he shows up, but really just want the "best players" on the field. Hope Denson stays around. Seems like a heckuva athlete. Would be nice to figure out where he fits best, aside from just Wildcat or misdirection. A QB seems to be the hardest one to convince of that, but I think he could be a valuable asset in a number of ways unless he learns how to throw suddenly after practicing it for some time already.
