Each game week at Lions247, leading up to Penn State football's latest matchup, we'll check in with an opponent beat reporter and send over some questions. This time around that turned our attention toward Temple and 247Sports' Shawn Pastor of OwlsDaily.
Temple, 1-0 on the season and 6-7 overall under head coach K.C. Keeler, will host Penn State at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia for a noon Saturday kickoff. It marks the Nittany Lions first visit to that venue since a shocking 2025 loss, which was the Owls' first victory in this series since 1941.
Collectively, Penn State owns a 40-4-1 series advantage over Temple. They haven't met since September 2016, when the Nittany Lions prevailed 34-27 in Beaver Stadium. This time around, PSU is favored by more than three touchdowns against the American Conference squad.
Like the Nittany Lions, Temple aims to build on a season-opening win versus a lower-level opponent. Penn State dominated Sun Belt Conference member Marshall, 45-0, while the Owls scored 21 unanswered points to close out a 38-14 victory over FCS competitor Rhode Island
Beyond this written piece, one of our weekly coverage staples is a 2 p.m. Wednesday Lions247 Podcast guest appearance from someone who covers Penn State's opponent. Check out the latest installment of that series HERE.
So what will it take for Temple to make things competitive for a full 60 minutes on Saturday, who are the players to know and how are injury issues impacting the program's plan?
