In the last scrimmage of the summer, AJ really struggled and did not finish camp strong. So I could see why the staff went with Lonergan. I probably would have too. But to be honest, I expected a lot more from Lonergan. In talking to some BC people, there was no faction that wanted him to stick around after last season. So I can imagine they suffered through some of what we watched last weekend. I would roll the dice on Surace. I don't like the notion that pulling a QB hurts his confidence. QBs have to be confident, maybe more so than any other position and if a guy crumbles because he's benched after not playing well then maybe he shouldn't be the guy. If Lonergan was healthy, I would still go with Surace this week. Think he can provide a spark and I like his potential.
