Michael Switzer Echoes Jedd Fisch's Comments About UW's "Embarrassing" Physicality in the Apple Cup
Summary
OL/LB: I have been thinking throughout fall camp that expectations for the OL are a bit high.
I have been thinking throughout fall camp that expectations for the OL are a bit high. They have been steadily improving under CJF and upgrading talent. But OL has been anything but consistent and a strength. I do think they take another significant step forward this season. But with a unit that benefits from experience and continuity, how big was that step forward expected to be in game 1 with a frosh LT playing his first game, a former OT getting his first start at center, and an OG getting his first start? I think we all saw some struggles there and that likely affects the the whole OL. I think Greene is a special talent that will see a steeper than usual improvement curve. Thankfully we have a few games for the OL and guys like Greene, Kolt and Champ to improve and work through tape of mistakes. Maybe Landen returns at center at some point later this month or next month too. I don’t think we’ll become a dominant Big Ten OL this year, but hopefully a consistent and pretty reliable one that can get the job done. Hopefully more physicality comes as they build confidence and game reps together.
