Everything SMU QB Kevin Jennings said ahead of home opener
Summary
-
Ahead of SMU's home opener against UC Davis, quarterback Kevin Jennings said he felt good overall after Florida State, with ordinary postgame soreness. He described the tape on his finger as neutral to his throwing and said he did not notice a difference with it; he did not announce a new injury or playing restriction.
-
SMU returned from Florida State around 5 a.m. Tuesday before its Saturday home opener. Jennings described the short turnaround as difficult and said coaches were managing preparation through walkthroughs and scout-team work to take care of players.
-
Jennings was not sacked against Florida State and praised SMU's offensive line for its snap-to-snap effort. His assessment identifies protection as a positive from the opener, without establishing that future opponents will be unable to pressure him.
-
Jennings attributed SMU's immediate connection with its new receivers and running backs to shared work beginning in January. He said that timing showed against Florida State and remained something the offense intended to build on.
