“There was only one catch and that was Catch-VU, which specified that believing the team’s most talented quarterback should actually be on the field in the face of offensive struggles that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Curtis was unready and had to be benched. All he had to do was be ready; and as soon as he was, he would no longer be unready and would be allowed to start. Curtis would be unready if he didn't start games and ready if he did, but to be ready he had to start them. If he tried to start them he was unready and wasn't allowed to; but if he wanted to start he had to be ready, which meant he had to start them. The fanbase was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this coaching logic and let out a respectful whistle. 'That's some catch, that Catch-VU,' a fan observed. 'It's the best there is,' the offensive coordinator agreed.” (With apologies to Joseph Heller)
