He could easily say “Blaze gives us the best chance to win so we’re starting him” but instead he says that Blaze has earned the right to take the first snaps, but that they want to get Jared into the game as soon as possible. If this was solely about winning the individual game, they wouldn’t swap QBs until garbage time. But that’s not what they’re doing. I don’t think there’s any coach out there that would tell you that wanting to play the guy who you list as your backup QB as early in the game is a move focused solely on winning the game. It’s the same as any other position, Lea is always going to default to the older guy because of the work they’ve put in until they crap the bed. I want to be clear, I’m not saying that philosophy is counter to winning, but it’s as much just the personal/moral choice for Lea that he views as the “right” to way to run a program like with Corbin.
