I’ve always been against putting your star WR in as a punt returner, even kick returner. And that’s not reactionary to Wesco. I’ve felt that way for years. I understand wanting to have your best talent in, but there is nuanced discretion to be had. And a team like Clemson is loaded with good athletes. Put in a backup RB or backup WR (preferably one built sturdy) that has a knack for returning. We have plenty of options. There are exceptions like CJ and Sammy who are just incredible returners (also Ray Ray). But that’s the exception. I agreed with Randall because of his size and ability in the return game. But typically it should be a backup skill player IMO. Another exception is a sure handed guy you need a safe catch from like Renfrow.
