BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — No. 5 Indiana football improved to 2-0 overall with a 55-0 blowout win over Howard on Saturday afternoon. Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover needed just two quarters to complete 6-of-11 passes for 146 yards, four touchdowns and zero turnovers. Wide receiver Charlie Becker hauled in three touchdown receptions on three catches for 81 yards, giving Becker five touchdowns through two games. Wide receivers Nick Marsh, Shazz Preston and Davion Chandler also recorded one touchdown catch. IU's rushing attack came alive against Howard, rumbling for 296 total yards and one touchdown. Lee Beebe Jr. led the way with a game-high 117 rushing yards on 16 carries, and Turbo Richard added 11 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Indiana racked up five sacks, 12 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble and one touchdown. Rolijah Hardy picked off Howard quarterback Ja'Shawn Scroggins midway through the second quarter and returned it for a 19-yard touchdown.
