(original post) It should 9 times out of 10 if you don’t have a staff full of Ray Charles’ or Stevie Wonder’s when it comes to talent eval like we clearly d... show more You can absolutely laugh in my face if you want, but i still think it's too soon to say whether we've missed out on talent eval on a lot of our guys. I say this and recognize that we have little to no margin for error and reinforce that I'm very upset that we lost yesterday. By all accounts, we hit on Gray and Allen. I suspect that when we finally see Sides, we'll see that we hit on him too. I realize two of those followed Davis here, but we still had to do our due diligence to make sure it'd work here vs where they were previously at. On OL, we by all accounts, picked up guys that should be plug and play at the OL position. They have not gelled in a way that would make even Joe Montana comfortable in the pocket right now. I'm upset with some of the effort from the defensive portal adds, specifically Law and Levels. But our sample size is literally Alabama (looks to be as good as advertised) and App St. (peer school that is spending less than us.) We need more data. Again, i know that's not fun to hear and it's not fun for me to type. We can be upset about how its being played out on the field, But i don't think these guys are "bums" nor do i think we've seen enough of them on the field to truly say if we mis-evaluated some of our key spots. This coming weekend will be the 2nd real game that this team has to lock-in and compete in. It is yet another must-win situation in order to get this train back on the tracks. I had us going 2-2 in OOC play, so that's still on the table. People just have a bad taste in their mouth because of who we lost to yesterday, which I get.
