Pick/market: Projecting matchups and personnel.

Projecting matchups and personnel. Oregon ran for 90 yards on 30 carries against OSU yesterday, and only ran for 119 against Boise. Both teams have small defensive lines and they couldn’t get any push against either. If you can’t run the ball you’re not going to be a good team. Oklahoma has a similar issue. Their offensive line last year was bad and couldn’t run the ball and through two games they’re running for 3.9 ypc, they were barely above 4 against Utep and that’s like the baseline for what’s considered an average running game. Their skill players are also underwhelming and Mateer statistically is one of the more inaccurate downfield QB’s in the country.
Tennessee I’m projecting a bit more than the others but I’m never trusting a true freshman QB in the SEC. Their game against GT was a perfect example of that…49% completion and a bunch of mistakes. They’ll have to be great everywhere else to cover him up and they’re not. Penn State I’m just not impressed with talent wise. They were bad last year and brought in a bunch of players from an 8-4 Iowa State team to be their starters. They also haven’t been able to run the ball so far. They’re averaging 4 ypc after playing bad Marshall and Temple teams. It’s one of the reasons they only beat Temple 27-9, they couldn’t protect or run.
Whether we beat Auburn or not we’re better than those teams. Oregon I guess you can argue on overall talent they’re better but they’re not playing up to their talent level, so.
