Postgame mailbag: Is Avery Johnson a weak spot for K-State?
Summary
Injury: My hope is that the coaching staff figures out what Avery does best through trial and error without costing us a win.
My hope is that the coaching staff figures out what Avery does best through trial and error without costing us a win. If Coach Klein is anything like Coach Snyder 1.0 it will happen over the course of the season. Quarterbacks improved under Snyder 1.0 because his staffs figured out what each quarterback did the best over time. In Snyder 2.0, he tended to try force quarterbacks into the quarterback run heavy offense. Some like Jake Waters were far better passers than runners. Some like Daniel Sams could only run. Because of relying on the qb run game, Snyder 2.0 did not win consistently because there started to be a lot of injuries. Even during Klein's senior year he rarely practiced because of getting too beat up during the games. I lost respect for Coach Gundy that season because the OSU defense went out of its way (including after the whistle) to inflict pain on Klein.
