What an enjoyable weekend of CFB
Summary
QB/OL: KU losing is always good but to see their QB look that bad against what I think is at best a mid level SEC team was the cherry on top.
KU losing is always good but to see their QB look that bad against what I think is at best a mid level SEC team was the cherry on top. The Cats' win was better than I expected on a number of fronts and particular the Dline given that this was a veteran WSU Oline. I like this version of Avery where he looks comfortable within the game although those sideline throws could have given WSU another TD over the one they did grab. I will look forward to rewatching the game to focus on the individual interior play on both sides of the ball which was my major concern with this team. The only question hanging in the air is just how good this WSU team really is. After the game they gave UW I assumed that they were pretty decent but UW barely survived Utah State which lost to Idaho the week before. However, this team and coaching staff gives me a very Bill Snyder mid 90's team feel. Those that are younger may not remember how those teams just built every year towards being a true power program. Seldom have I enjoyed another team's victory as much as OSU's win over Oregon. On the down side I would not pencil in OSU as the automatic win they looked like after the Tulsa debacle. It is always good to see OU lose too even if it is to a team that now is undefeated after an absolute theft of a game against a G5 program. Texas vs tOSU was the game between two of the reasons CFB has descend into the morass of semi professional FB so any outcome was going to be bad BUT that game and the REAL OSU took much of the shine off of the Big Ten's claim to supremacy. Tech certainly came down to earth and if what we saw from their non-gambling QB holds I don't see them as the league favorite now. The Mormons look to have the lead on that now. Arizona State just wore out and JMO but the biggest difference between what the P2 conference's money is buying is quality depth that over a game and more importantly over a season favor their teams. I couldn't make it to the end of the Utah game but either they are for real or Arkansas is really, really bad.
