Getting to know new Fresno State QB Khristian Martin
Summary
Fresno State welcomes Maryland transfer Khristian Martin, 6'4" 230-lb QB competing for starting job with three years eligibility remaining.
The Fresno State Bulldogs welcomed a new quarterback to the roster this spring: Maryland transfer Khristian Martin. What should Bulldog fans know about the new QB? Martin met with the local media for the first time on Friday for a chance to get acquainted.  Martin is from Highland Spring (Virginia) and spent his first two years of college at Maryland. Last season he served as the back-up for the Terrapins of the Big Ten, completing 11-of-17 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.  Now the 6-foot-4 and 230-pounder aims to win the Bulldogs' starting job in 2026. He comes in with three years of eligibility plus a degree already in hand. He and Jayden Mandal are the early leaders in a five-quarterback competition this spring.  "I'm very excited to be here," Martin said after the Bulldogs' third spring practice. "I'm very blessed for the opportunity and I can't wait to see the game day atmosphere with the fans and see what all that's like." As to what drew him into Fresno State, he said, "The amount of quarterbacks that come out of this school - your dreams are accomplishable from Fresno State. I think that there's a lot of different things. Going across the country will help me learn about myself. I'm far away from home, so being able to focus on football."  What does Martin bring to the table on the field?  Martin said of his game, "I would say (I'm) a smart kid with an ability to throw from the pocket, but also the ability to use legs when needed." His parents did a really nice job raising him. Athletically, the arm strength stands out. The physical size, 235-pound guy who can run a little bit. That's exciting. To help us when we don't have the right play call - improvise and make plays off schedule, is a huge part of how teams win championships. We're excited about that.  "Khristian has been a blessing. He's up early every day, he's in my office almost when I arrive with a couple of questions, then he goes and takes care of his body. He's academically ahead. That allows him to really focus on football. We talk a lot about ball, we share ideas." - *VIP* Coach Davis breaks down quarterback unit, competition - SPRING SALE: Join VIP for 50% off your firs year now! -  Continue on for additional quotes from Martin.
