Bigger gap in talent than I realized
Summary
QB/DL: Talent obviously matters but you aren’t going to convince me that WR1 of MSU is noticeably better than most WR1s in the big 10 and Nestor locked up plenty of people last year.
Talent obviously matters but you aren’t going to convince me that WR1 of MSU is noticeably better than most WR1s in the big 10 and Nestor locked up plenty of people last year. You aren’t going to convince me their safety is better than brown. I can list a lot of single positions where I think we have higher individual talent but no one produced. I don’t think the gap between their qb and ours is as significant as that score implicates even though he is obviously very talented. Wisconsin and Nebraska beat us in ratings every year and that hasn’t gone particularly well for them lately. We crush northwestern in ratings and have lost some pathetic games vs them recently. The sample size and variability in college football is too small and too volatile in my opinion. There was some talent mismatches I guess but also just about no single player played well yesterday other than Drake and our place kicker. I thought a place we were supposed to have a significant edge was in the trenches and we got blown off the ball everywhere.
