We haven’t won yet, and we are 2-21 in our last 23 games. I think there will be more fans next week, even with the late start. “If” we can win the next three games, which all three are very winnable (Montana, at UTEP, at CSU), expect the home game against San Diego State to be packed and rocking. We absolutely need to win these next three. If we do that, we will start to see large crowds again because we will finally be playing some seriously meaningful football. I think true football fans can see that this team, as of today, can compete for a conference title if they continue to grow and gel. These next three games are crucial, and we have to win. You win the next two and choke against CSU on the road, then expect a good percentage of fans to continue to stay home. You have to play meaningful football and consistently win to get big crowds. I’ve seen it all my life. I was at every game during the Riley and Erickson eras and those crowds were awesome! I was in college from 2005 to 2010 where we were consistently ranked and games were packed and rocking. I was there for the UW game in 2023 and it was a sellout, it was very possibly the loudest I’ve ever heard Reser Stadium. I know some people won’t want to hear it, but it’s a reality, the players have to earn the fans coming back to watch them. Only two wins in the last 23 games isn’t going to cut it. If they build it, the fans will come, I can guarantee it.
