UCF coach Scott Frost said Alondzo Barnett has a fairly significant hamstring injury and will miss time after getting hurt at Pitt. Further imaging was still pending, so no firm return date or injury grade was given. Frost had not announced a replacement starter or a two-quarterback rotation and declined to confirm Keywone Jenkins as the starter.

Frost does not expect to shrink UCF's playbook simply because the quarterback changes; he wants to tailor calls to whoever plays. Frost expects Jaden Bellamy and Cooper Terpstra to be ready Saturday and expects the players identified as Bruno, RJ and Speedy to return. These are expectations, not confirmed clearances. Minor offensive-line injuries affected the prior rotation; the staff is still evaluating the best combination and expects those linemen to be available.

Frost credited UCF's experienced defense and Alex Grinch's staff with repeatedly giving the offense chances, allowing roughly 70-some second-half yards at Pitt.
