Hoist The Colours VIP Chat (Sept. 14)
Summary
Pick/market: (sorry if this is a repeat) 1.
(sorry if this is a repeat)
1. Based on what you saw during spring/summer/fall camp, were there a lot more air raid tendencies being installed that we aren't seeing?
2. If yes, did Griffis winning the starter cause us to adjust to his strengths (run-and-gun), therefor trashing a large portion of the air raid system?
3. Again, if yes, how bad does Williams have to be to choose another QB that is causing significant last minute changes in the planned offense?
(ignore those if the prior answer wasn't a yes)
4. Our defense is reminding me of Harrell's '22 defense, seems to be great on 1st down, 2nd down, and short yardage, but has no idea what to do in 3rd and medium/long. I'm concerned because we don't seem to be varying things right now on that side and that makes it easy to attack. The last 2 years, I saw what looked like evolution in the defense, with actual different packages being rolled out. So far this year, we seem to be playing just the same base defense throughout the games. Why do we never see true nickel, dime, or other heavy (3-4) and exotic packages?
(only time I can think of seeing a true 3-4 was against Army in '23, and we had some really nice exotic packages (2-4 an 1-5 fronts) last year that seem to have disappeared)
