Mitch Griffis has been the better player in practice by a good margin. Emory Williams made a good push at the start of camp, but then started to fall behind as MG made more plays in live situations and scrimmages the latter half of camp.
I do think Emory Williams can be a better passer when it comes to getting the ball out in the short middle of the field, but Griffis throws a better deep ball, and consistently gets rid of the ball quicker in practice. He also can utilize his legs more.
That said, we all know practice isn't a game. Who's to say Williams couldn't operate at a higher level if he had more time with the 1s, and more confidence? We've seen it before.
I just think it's pretty clear at this point the preceived gap from the staff from Griffis to Williams is enough things have to get really bad before inserting him. They still feel like Griffis is the best chance to win.
So what's it going to take to see EW get legit time? Probably a really bad showing from Griffis against ODU.
