NIL Budgets
Summary
Pick/market: The athletic just published a deep dive of each power 4 programs Nil budget.
The athletic just published a deep dive of each power 4 programs Nil budget. They gave ranges for every program as an exact amount was difficult to pin down. Ohio state was the highest with an estimated range of 49-54 million. They went ahead and assumed they were above 50 million though. Texas and Oregon joined them above the 50 million spot. Couple highlights: -UGA was 19th on the list! In between 31-34 million. As far as top programs go, comfortably the biggest overachiever. If UGA was at 34 million (high end of their estimated range) and every other program was at their lowest end, UGA would still be 15th in the nation. -UGAs spend is 10th in the SEC. Behind Florida, South Carolina and auburn. Just ahead of Oklahoma and Missouri. Again, slight wiggle room here… it’s possible UGA is ahead of them based off ranges, but they were listed as below the schools mentioned above. - the big 10 had 5 lower spenders than the lowest SEC team. Best conference indeed… -Houston and Iowa are some of the biggest overachievers. Michigan probably the biggest underachievers -UGA is spending marginally more than clemson -Miami, A&M and LSU are all right around 50 million as well -Indiana was also very high on the list… comfortably outspending UGA It seems clear that what CKS is doing on that budget is remarkable. I’m more of a “Disney dawg” or whatever if I had to classify myself, but being 19th on the list clearly isn’t sustainable considering the expectations on the program. As always, money is not the end all… but we’re basically spending 60% of what the top programs are. At some point that will catch up to you.
