This is what makes the calculus on how attractive some of these jobs are. The life changing money aside, it feels like many of those places (Arkansas, Mississippi State etc.) are total dead ends. Now maybe those jobs have always been dead ends but I think the combination of not being able to compete NIL wise and the portal being what it is, that those jobs have become worse. Mississippi State seems to have stumbled onto a elite QB in Kamario Taylor and yet, they hardly get to enjoy him without the thought of him leaving as soon as the season ends creeping in I would imagine.
People have talked about this inevitable superleague being a consolidation of about 30ish teams and I am generally against such a small number but it does seem like keeping the portal the way it is, and not having a salary cap (which I don't want) makes including those second level teams pretty pointless.
