Well, there's no question someone talented is going to take over the job, but I think that line of thinking understates the value of matriculating multiple years through a coach's system as a QB (especially as a starter). In the heat of the moment, I think there's a lot of "muscle memory" going on, including mental muscle. A lot of that is built through repetition, and I don't know how much of that repetition can be squeezed in in one off-season. We would be stepping backwards from a quarterbacking standpoint. Obviously, the hope is that the gains in experience at other positions as well as the second year on the defense under Gary Patterson will make up for losing your head on offense, which it probably will at the end of the day. Just get ready for some regression on offense.
