Maryland football's roster spending has increased, but how big a gap remains between Terps and bluebloods?
Summary
Pick/market: I don't understand why there'd be any expectation that Maryland would be spending like the programs that are significantly ahead of us on this graph.
I don't understand why there'd be any expectation that Maryland would be spending like the programs that are significantly ahead of us on this graph. If you just look at the overall ranking, we're basically near the bottom of the tier below the 25 or so programs that have routinely been among the best in the country pre-NIL. Without doing any real winning to speak of, it's pretty impressive we landed where we did and I think with even moderate success we could move towards the top of that tier, so somewhere in the 25-35 range. Which again, why would we be any higher than that? Looking at the programs who are in a meaningfully higher bracket, we'd be a major outlier in terms of the funding to success ratio if someone all of a sudden dropped a giant bag.
