Summary
Arch Manning's NIL deals driven by famous family, not market value; most players lack NIL market; House case plaintiffs seeking workarounds on $20.5M 2026 cap.
Spot on. And the only reason Arch Manning has national NIL deals is because he comes from the most famous family in football. Very few people even know these other kids who are bouncing around every year. They have little or no "NIL market value." The whole thing is a poorly-camouflaged pay-for-play scheme, as noted. The plaintiffs in the House case have filed a motion asserting that certain "deal structures" are not subject to CSC scrutiny (i.e., effectively seeking to sidestep the $20.5M cap that was approved for 2026). That motion will be heard May 26 absent a postponement or earlier consensual resolution (either of which I suspect is likely). But the point remains that the players and their lawyers are actively seeking work-arounds on this "cap" idea....no one really knows what the "rules" currently are, or what they will be in the future.
