That’s a great point Patrick. But I say let the young man develop in that leadership role because, at this point, I think Pierce’s talent has pretty much reached its ceiling. Most posters understand Riley’s potential and what he could become with more experience.
My question is, if Pierce isn’t physically able to consistently react, tackle, and read plays quickly and effectively, where does his credibility stand when he’s the one being vocal and commanding the defense?
I can relate it to my military experience. Leadership carries more weight when you can lead by example and execute the same standards you expect from everyone else. Not everyone placed in a leadership position is necessarily best suited to lead. Some people are more effective as followers…or, in this case, valuable and dependable backups. This just my opinion and mine only.
